Description: Vine varieties:Pinot GrisAppellation:AOC AlsaceHarvesting: ManualTerroir (soil): The Hohrain or high slope consists of conglomerate limestone, including Muschelkalk and Jurassic stone. It is also positioned on the same slope as this Grand Cru but on its north-east hillside. This cooler location constitutes an ideal terroir for this early maturing vine variety. The slow maturing on a very well-ventilated slope enables the pourriture noble to develop steadily. Vinification:A pneumatic pressure method enables extraction of the juice at very low pressures. Fermentation develops over several weeks.Tasting: Partly cask matured, this wine conveys a hint of pleasant aromas of vanilla and roast. The confit, smoky notes of this vine variety emerge aeration. The 2008 vintage type is perceptible with its straightforward acidity and rich, complex structure.Potential for laying down:8 to 10 yearsFood / wine combinations: Both powerful and persistent, this is a true gastronomic wine to be combined with refined and elaborate dishes: mushroom poularde, pan-fried coquilles St Jacques, crustaceans in sauce, duck terrine de foie gras, etc..

Having inherited a secular family tradition, dating back to 1580 when Martin Beyer was already working his vines in Eguisheim, I have been managing the vineyard since 1997. We now have an opportunity to work more than 17 hectares including two Grands Crus and two lieux-dits. The translation of this diversity of soils into each of our wines is our commitment. As the custodian of a viticultural history, but also with my experience in France and abroad, I am part of this new generation of Alsace wine growers seeking to produce a great wine. Giving happiness, with elegant wines: this is what I take pride in. Bonne d├ęgustation! Enjoy the wine!
