Description: The 2005 Alamos Malbec presents a dark purple color with violet highlights. The nose offers bright black cherry aromas with light floral notes and a touch of toast. The mouthfeel is full and rich, with ripe, concentrated cassis and black raspberry fruit flavors interwoven with a touch of chocolate and sweet spice from light oak aging. This finish is long and lingering, with ripe, velvety tannins.

Plenty of char greets you, which is typical of a Catena wine; oak is always in play. The palate is ultraripe, with cherry and boysenberry fruit receiving a boost from bold acidity. With nuances of ear... Read more

Open-knit, with brier and berry flavors offset by a meaty edge on the slightly rustic finish. Drink now. 41,100 cases made. (JM)

Ripe, lip-smacking acidity helps keep the plum, blackberry and boysenberry fruit bouncing along here, with tasty mocha and spice notes as well. Subtle toast, so the fruit really shines. A delicious, f... Read more
